There is a tiktok creator @whatifimjustagirl who has become known as the trampoline girl. As of writing this her oldest video is 6 days old, but she has captured the internet’s attention for her “addiction” to jumping on her trampoline every night in the dark, in all weathers, for hours each night between midnight and 3 am.
Since discovering her I find myself thinking of her often in my day to day comings and goings.
It is not the process of how and why she achieves this task that has captured me. It is the thing that has awoken something within my brain is her unwavering commitment to her joy that I find so incredible. Her life is curated to enable these jump sessions to happen. She has dedicated clothes, she sourced replacement materials so that she can always replace the broken parts without ever missing a session. If she is not home before snow falls her family will sweep and cover the trampoline so it is not frozen when she comes home, she calls it “protecting the jump” , which for me translates to protecting her joy. Prioritising her joy and wellbeing is inspirational.
I have found myself focusing on my own joy with the same fervoured focus that she has, it does not need to be justified, only embraced. We must seek to focus on the joy in our lives for our own self fulfilment.
